New site for the production of finished medicines in ampoules at Biokhimik JSC

Promomed 05 February 2021
On February 5, 2021, Denis Manturov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Artem Zdunov, Acting Head of the Republic of Mordovia, visited one of the largest pharmaceutical enterprises in Russia, Biokhimik JSC located in Saransk, and launched a new ampoule production line. The ultra-modern line with advanced equipment is located on an area of 2700 sq. m. meters. With this line the production of finished medicines in ampoules will be increased two-fold, up to 15 million units per month (more than 173 million ampoules per year).

In fact, the launch of a new production facility will fully meet the needs of the Russian healthcare system in drugs for the prevention and treatment of viral diseases. According to the minister, the new line at Biokhimik is an invaluable contribution of the Russian industry to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

«Among other things, the facility will produce anticoagulants that are in great demand for the treatment of a new coronavirus infection: enoxaparin sodium and nadroparin calcium,» Denis Manturov added. «As soon as the company reaches full capacity for these drugs, it will be possible to say about the completion of the next stage of nationwide importance in the deployment of the production of drugs necessary for the treatment of not only COVID-19, but also many other diseases.»

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group, which includes the Biokhimik plant, Petr Bely, an ampoule line of this capacity is able to solve most of the acute problems in the national supply of low molecular weight heparins, which are in great demand during the pandemic.
Petr Bely also notes that the launch of the new production took place largely due to the interaction of Biokhimik JSC with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and a targeted loan provided by the Industrial Development Fund in September last year. «With the support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade we also organized production of substances for antibiotics, which made it possible to ensure sustainable production of full-cycle antibacterial drugs and solve the strategically important task of ensuring drug independence from foreign suppliers,» he stressed.

After the launch of the new ampoule production, Denis Manturov and Artem Zdunov congratulated the staff of the plant and presented awards to the employees of the enterprise. «This is not only a powerful research and production project, it is an important social project for our republic,» says Artem Zdunov. «It is new jobs, salary increase, and an increase in tax revenues, which we turn into social benefits for people. We have big plans for the development of the plant, but the main thing is that we have excellent drive and move in correct direction.»

At the end of the official part of the event, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Acting Head of the Republic of Mordovia left entries in the Book of Honored Guests of Biokhimik JSC with wishes of success in the development of the enterprise.
