Promomed 02 April 2019

The newest educational and scientific laboratory of chemical and pharmaceutical technologies has been opened in the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Mordivia State University. The event was attended by the Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry Alexander Sedov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group Petr Bely, Rector of the Ogarev Mordovia State University Sergey Vdovin, students, young scientists and university teachers.

The opening of this laboratory is part of the implementation in the Republic of Mordovia of the «Science» national project, which was approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin «On national goals and strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024».

The need to create such a laboratory was discussed a year ago. Joint efforts of Biokhimik JSC and the Ogarev Mordovia State University have made this idea a reality. The management of the plant contributed one million rubles. These funds were used to purchase the most modern equipment, thanks to which students can now reproduce and thoroughly investigate almost all stages of drug production – from synthesis of active substance to manufacturing of finished product. The laboratory can be used not only by students are training in Chemical Technology, but also by students of the Medical Institute who are training in Pharmacy.

The Govenor of Mordovia commented that this unique laboratory will rise the level of training of students and they will be in demand at the time of their first employment at the plant being already ready to work specialists. «We analyze how many former students work in specialty they studied. Graduates of this university do not have problems with employment. Students know that there are places for them,» Vladimir Volkov stressed.

Currently, the issue of the development of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the task of providing the population with domestic medicines, is one of the main goals of the state policy of the Russian Federation. Responding to the course of import substitution announced by the President of Russia, Biokhimik JSC has been conducting a complex of various scientific, production and personnel activities for already a long time.

Let us remind that in December 2016, during the visit of the Minister of Health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova to Saransk, a trilateral agreement was signed on the establishment of a pharmaceutical research and production center «Antibiotics» at Biokhimik. Its main task is the production of domestic antimicrobial substances. The implementation of the project will reduce the country's dependence on imported medicines. The main result of the activity of this Center was the launch of the first full-cycle production of the antibiotic Vancomycin in Russia.

The rapid development of the plant has increased the need for qualified specialists in the republic. That is why in 2018, Biokhimik put forward the initiative and provided technical assistance for the establishment of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Physiologically Active Substances at the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Mordovia State University. Already this year, the first graduates of this department will join the enterprise. In addition, Biokhimik motivates students of the Chemical Technology Faculty of the university to study well by paying them a factory scholarship.
